Before any surgical procedure, your plastic surgeon will likely order diagnostic tests to:

Assess your overall health (to ensure you’re a good candidate for surgery).
Identify potential risks (such as bleeding disorders or infections).
Plan the surgical approach (using imaging like CT scans or X-rays for structural assessments).
Meet anesthesia requirements (if you’re undergoing sedation or general anesthesia).
Common tests may include:
✔ Blood tests (CBC, clotting factors, metabolic panel)
✔ Imaging scans (MRI, CT, or X-rays for bone or tissue evaluation)
✔ Cardiac tests (EKG for patients with heart conditions)
✔ Allergy testing (if you have sensitivities to medications or materials)

How to Prepare for Your Diagnostic Tests
1. Follow Fasting Instructions (If Required)
Some blood tests or imaging scans require fasting for accurate results.

Typically, 8–12 hours of fasting is needed for blood glucose or cholesterol tests.
Clear liquids (water) may be allowed, but confirm with your doctor.
2. Stay Hydrated (Unless Instructed Otherwise)
Drinking water before blood tests can make veins easier to access.
However, avoid excessive fluids if you’re getting certain imaging tests (like abdominal ultrasounds).
